There is a concept discussed in a seminar by L. Ron Hubbard often referred to as the “Barrier Universe.” At its core, it presents a simple but deeply misunderstood idea:

We live in a universe of barriers—and those barriers are not opposing us. They are supporting us.

Most people instinctively view barriers as problems. Resistance. Proof that something is “wrong.” But this framing misses a fundamental truth about how reality, growth, and purpose actually function.

A PERSONAL STORY

After being an entrepreneur for 20+ years, I can tell you that this is real. Barriers are real. Games are real. The WHOLE HUMAN life is a game. When a person decides to “Start a company” they are in essence agreeing to play a game and the barriers that come with “Starting A Company”, are part of the game. In reality, barriers cause us grow. When body builders are growing, the only reason they are growing is because they are facing daily resistance and overcoming that resistance make the muscles grow. Without the “RESISTANCE THERAPY,” the muscles would not grow.

RESISTANCE THERAPY:

Here at MultiGen Mindset Institute, we believe in RESISTANCE THERAPY. The bigger the games we choose to play, the tougher the barriers. If all you wanted was a fat low quality wife, and old beat-up Chevy truck and a trailer house. That’s pretty easy to accomplish. However, if you want to marry an amazing woman or become a man worthy of multiple wives, and you want to own a billion-dollar business. You are going to face insurmountable resistances including all the changes in yourself you’d have to make in order to become that version of yourself.

If you are facing challenges, pains, setbacks, disappointments know that you are simply facing BARRIERS to the objectives and goals you set for yourself. Remember, you set the game and the rules for the game you are playing. A mindset that you can learn to achieve is the understanding that everything you face has the opportunity built in to make you stronger. “All things work together for your good”. That is the foundational scripture that gives you a FRAME of REFERENCE against all the challenges you face. You ask God or Universe to help you achieve goals. A version of you needs to be birthed and built that can withstand the pressures of what it is that you ask for. So, setting a goal and BECOMING the PERSON that CAN ACHIEVE that goal is how you grow yourself. If you never set goals that cause you to grow, your goals are not big enough.

Barriers Are What Make Reality Stable

Consider gravity.

Gravity can be experienced as a limitation—you cannot float freely, leap endlessly, or escape Earth without effort. But gravity is also what allows you to stand, build, walk, lift, and live safely on this planet.

Without it, there is no structure.
No orientation.
No reliability.

Gravity is a barrier that makes life possible.

The same principle applies to nearly every meaningful aspect of existence.

Life Is Built on Games—and Games Require Barriers

Another key idea discussed in that seminar is this:

Humans create games.

A game, by definition, requires:

Remove the obstacles and the game collapses. There is nothing to win. Nothing to overcome. No meaning.

When a person decides to build something—
a business, a family, a movement, a body of work—they are, in essence, starting a game.

When someone chooses to build a company like MultiGen Wellness, they are not merely starting a business. They are entering a voluntary arena of challenge.

And the moment a game begins, barriers appear.

Some are known:

Others are unknown:

These barriers are not evidence that the game was a mistake.

They are evidence that the game is real.

Barriers Respond to Will and Energy

A game does not respond to wishful thinking. It responds to will, clarity, and spiritual energy.

You can call this force many things:

Faith, in particular, has long been described as something that can move mountains. But faith is not passive belief. It is directed intention backed by meaning.

The more meaning a human assigns to a game, the more power they have to confront its barriers.

This is why trivial goals collapse under pressure, while deeply meaningful missions endure extraordinary resistance.

Meaning Is the Fuel That Breaks Barriers

People do not fail because obstacles are too large.

They fail because the meaning behind their game is too small.

When the purpose is unclear:

But when the meaning is clear:

This is why clarity of vision is not motivational fluff—it is a functional necessity.

The clearer you see why you are playing the game, the clearer you become in seeing how to overcome what stands in your way.

Humans Are Always Choosing: Succumb or Overcome

At every moment, a human is doing one of two things:

There is no neutral state.

Succumbing happens when meaning collapses.
Overcoming happens when meaning expands.

Barriers do not decide this.
Circumstances do not decide this.
Other people do not decide this.

Meaning decides this.

The Universe Is Not Against You—It Is Testing Your Commitment

The “Barrier Universe” is not hostile.
It is responsive.

It asks one recurring question:

How badly do you want to play this game?

Every obstacle is a request for more clarity, more intention, more faith, and more alignment between vision and action.

Those who understand this stop asking, “Why is this happening to me?”

They begin asking:

“What is this barrier requiring me to become?”

And that shift changes everything.

Final Thought

Barriers are not walls meant to stop you.
They are structures meant to shape you.

When you choose a meaningful game, expect barriers.
When barriers appear, recognize support.
When resistance increases, deepen meaning.
When meaning deepens, faith strengthens.
And when faith strengthens, obstacles move.

This is not philosophy.
It is how the universe works.

The Emerald Tablets of Thoth: Resistance as a Mirror of Inner Order

Long before modern psychology, leadership theory, or even organized religion, ancient esoteric texts attributed to Thoth explored the nature of resistance, barriers, and human advancement. In what are commonly known as the Emerald Tablets of Thoth, resistance is not portrayed as an external enemy but as a direct reflection of the inner condition of the traveler.

Thoth repeatedly links resistance to inner disorder.

When a man is fragmented—internally divided, fearful, unclear in intention—the world around him becomes dense. The path feels heavy. Opposition multiplies. Progress slows or stops altogether. Barriers appear everywhere, and life seems to “push back.”

But when inner order is restored, something remarkable happens.

The Tablets describe that:

This is why Thoth emphasizes qualities such as:

Resistance, in this framework, is not random and not cruel. It is diagnostic. It mirrors the state of the one moving through it. Reality reflects coherence—or the lack of it.

Opposition as the Forge of the Light-Born

Another core principle within the Emerald Tablets is that strength is forged through opposition.

Thoth implies that without resistance, consciousness stagnates. There is no development without pressure, no awakening without challenge. Light cannot be known without darkness. Movement has no meaning without friction. Power cannot be realized without something to overcome.

This aligns precisely with the idea that humans are always in one of two states:

In Thoth’s worldview, resistance is not meant to crush the individual—it is meant to reveal who they are becoming.

Opposition creates evolution.
Pressure awakens latent power.
Resistance exposes mastery.

Those who overcome do not eliminate resistance; they use it.

Resistance Yields to Authority, Not Force

One of the most important distinctions in the Tablets is this:

Resistance does not fall to effort alone. It falls to authority.

Authority, as Thoth describes it, is not domination or aggression. It is:

This is why the initiate is instructed to command, not beg.

“Speak the word and the barriers shall open.”

Resistance recognizes spiritual authority. It does not respond to desperation, struggle, or forceful exertion. It responds to alignment. When a man knows—rather than hopes—the universe rearranges accordingly.

Why Resistance Exists at All

Taken as a whole, the Emerald Tablets suggest a profound truth:

Resistance exists so consciousness can know itself.

Without resistance:

Resistance is the feedback system of the universe. It reveals clarity, exposes confusion, and forces alignment. It is not designed to stop progress—it is designed to refine the one progressing.

Synthesis: Ancient Wisdom, Universal Law

What Thoth articulated thousands of years ago aligns seamlessly with the Barrier Universe principle:

The universe does not block man arbitrarily.

It asks one quiet, persistent question:

“Are you aligned enough to proceed?”

Resistance is not proof that the universe is against you.
It is proof that the universe is asking who you are becoming.
