The Anger Workbook for Men — 60 Days to Stop Being Run by It

Who it’s for

The man who is tired of being run by his own temper

Not the man looking for permission to keep it. You know the size of the trigger and the size of the response never quite match — and the people paying for it are, overwhelmingly, not the people who caused it.

You never lose it with the judge, the client, or the man twice your size. You lose it at home, in the car, with the people who will not fire you or leave over one bad night. That gap is the whole subject of this book.

If you recognise that, this book was written for you. It is not a better argument for why you were right. There isn’t one in here.

The spine

The four levers of anger

Every day works one of them. You score all four before Day 1 and again on Day 60, so you finish with a measurement instead of a mood.

Trigger

What sets it off. Most men know their explosions intimately and have never once made an honest inventory of their triggers. You cannot see the weather coming if you have never mapped the terrain.

Body

Anger is physical before it is verbal. The heat, the jaw, the tight chest arrive seconds before the words — and those seconds are where every bit of command you will ever have actually lives.

Story

The narration that turns heat into rage: he did that on purpose, she never listens. The story is where anger gets its licence — and a story is a thing that can be checked.

Repair

Not whether you blow it, but how fast and how honestly you close it after. Trust is not destroyed by anger. It is destroyed by anger that is never repaired.

The structure

See it. Find its root. Then command it.

Part One · Days 1–20

See

Recognition only — you change nothing for twenty days. Your triggers, the face across the table, the body’s early warnings, the cost, and the proof, on Day 19, that you already control it where the price is high.

Part Two · Days 21–40

The Root

Anger is a second emotion. Twenty days on the first one underneath — hurt, fear, shame, powerlessness — and the boy who learned that anger was the only safe thing to feel. Three Steady Days are built into the worst of it.

Part Three · Days 41–60

Command

Mechanics. The one-second pause. The body-first tools. The ninety-second wave you ride without feeding it. The checked story, the honourable exit, and the fast, un-defended repair. Small, repeatable, mostly invisible.

Anatomy of a day

One page asks four things of you

Fifteen minutes. The reading is short on purpose; the writing is where it happens.

The reading

One page. Two or three minutes.

Write it

One question, with ruled space to answer it properly.

Today’s practice

One small act, usually under ten minutes, always private. Some days ask nothing at all.

Ledger

One line: what surfaced, and how it sat. Sixty of them become the record you read back on the last day.

The rule the book is built on

What it will never ask you to do

The failure mode this book is written against is the man who reads it and hears permission — a more articulate case for why his anger is justified. Every day is built to close that door.

Understanding where your anger comes from is not the same as excusing it. A reason is never an excuse. Day 19 proves you already control it where the cost is high — so I can’t help it was never true, and no root the book uncovers gives it back to you.

  • Tell anyone you are doing this
  • Confront, disclose, announce or present anything
  • Use a word from this book to describe what someone else did
  • Have a single conversation you would not otherwise have had
  • Deliver the letter you write on Day 59
  • Read your pages to a soul

Every practice is internal or unremarkable from the outside. If the house gets quieter, let them notice. That is the only announcement the book permits.

Said plainly, on the first page

Safety comes before Day 1

This is not a book that buries the hard truth at the back. The very first page, before anything else, says it outright.

This book is for the man whose anger is costing him — his relationships, his peace, his children’s ease around him — but has not crossed into hurting people. It is honest about the line, and about what to do if you are on the other side of it.

If your anger has become violence

If you have hurt someone, are afraid you might, or the people around you are frightened of you — a workbook is not the right tool, and the strongest thing you can do is get a real person involved. That is command, not failure.

Day One

The Last Time.

Day One · 22% read

Start with the most recent one. Not the worst — the last. The last time your temper got away from you. Yesterday, this morning, an hour ago. Describe what happened, plainly, the way a camera would have recorded it. What was said. What you did with your voice, your hands, your face. What the room was like after.

Here is the discipline, and it starts today: describe it without the but. Without the traffic, the disrespect, the long day, the thing she said first. Every but is the case for the defence, and you have spent years building that case so well that you can no longer see the event underneath it.

Today you are not the defence attorney. You are the camera. The camera does not know why. It only knows what happened.

Most men, doing this honestly, are surprised by how much smaller the cause looks once the story is stripped off it. The thing that set you off was often genuinely minor.

That gap — between the size of the trigger and the size of the response — is the single most useful thing this whole book will show you, and you are looking at it on Day 1.

Just the last time. What happened, not why.

Sixty days from now you will know exactly what your anger is, where it comes from, and how to command it. Today you are only learning to look at it without flinching.

This is where the free sample ends

Day One of sixty. Stop being run by it.

The full workbook walks you — privately, one day at a time — through Trigger, Body, Story, and Repair: seeing the anger, finding the root underneath it, and taking command. A self-guided workbook, not therapy.
